Banana Oats Smoothie with Walnuts

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oats
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup plain, low-fat yogurt
  • 1 banana, peeled and cut into 3-4 pieces
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 tbsp walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the oats: Cook oats in 1/2 cup water and allow to cool (2-3 minutes)
  2. Blend base: In blender, combine cooked oats, yogurt, chopped banana, honey, and a little milk
  3. First blend: Blend until smooth
  4. Add milk: Add remaining milk and blend again
  5. Finish: Add chopped walnuts and serve chilled

Notes

  • Make ahead: Prepare cooked oats the night before and refrigerate
  • Substitutions: Use powdered dry roasted oats instead of cooking if preferred
