Smoked Cheddar Grilled Cheese Sandwich
A gourmet grilled cheese sandwich featuring smoked cheddar, tart Granny Smith apple, and grainy Dijon mustard on sourdough bread.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 1/2 Granny Smith apple, cut into 1/4 inch thick slices
- 4 ounces smoked cheddar, cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
- 1 tablespoon grainy Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Butter both sides of the bread slices
- Spread grainy Dijon mustard on one side of each slice
- Layer cheese slices on top of the mustard side of each slice of bread
- Layer apple slices on top of the cheese slices on one of the slices of bread
- Take the slice without apples and flip it over on top of the apple slice
- Apple slices should be sandwiched between cheese slices
- Cook on lightly greased skillet over medium-high heat
- Cook until bread is toasty brown and cheese is melted
- About 4-6 minutes per side
- Serve immediately
Notes
- Best served hot while cheese is still melted
- Can use any smoked cheddar brand
- Sourdough bread provides nice tang and holds up well
- Granny Smith apple adds tartness and crunch
- Can adjust mustard amount to taste
